Operating responsibly

Three things we are held to on every site: keeping people whole, leaving the ground repairable, and being useful to the town we live in.

Safety

We are small enough that everyone knows who is on site and what they are doing. That is the main control here, and the paperwork sits underneath it rather than over the top of it.

Every shift opens with a pre start, and a take five before anything unfamiliar. Any crew member can call a stop work without ringing a supervisor first, and nobody has ever been given a hard time for using it. Incidents are written up the same shift, while people still remember the detail.

Our recordable injury frequency rate for the twelve months to June 2026 was 3.7, from two recordable injuries across 41 people on the books. We publish the number whether it flatters us or not.

Environment

Dust is the thing clients and the town both notice. Water carts run on every active road, and we would rather over water than take a call from a camp two kilometres downwind.

Plant is washed down before it moves between tenements so we are not carting weed seed around the Pilbara. Topsoil comes off in its own pass and is stockpiled where it will not blow away, because it is the only thing that makes rehabilitation work later.

Hydrocarbons are stored bunded, and spill kits sit on every float and service truck.

Community

We hire in Newman first. When a role can be residential we advertise it in town for a fortnight before it goes to a Perth agency.

We take apprentices at every intake, usually two or three, and we keep them on afterwards where the work supports it. Fuel, tyres and most consumables come from Newman suppliers, and we sponsor the junior football club because our fitters' kids play in it.

None of that is a program. It is what happens when the people who own the business live in the same town as the people who work for it.
